Faculty Positions
General Description
The RISE Institute (Research, Innovation, STEM and Entrepreneurship) and science program at Lakeland Christian School are seeking an experienced teacher and coach to join our faculty in some combination of the physical, earth, and engineering sciences. Experience with and vision for First Tech Challenge Robotics is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a sharpening the minds and shepherding the hearts of middle and high schoolers in the context of a can-do, “how might we…” student-centric, learning environment. Working directly with the Director of the RISE Institute and the Director of Academics, the ideal candidate will have the opportunity to lead the cultivation of a robust STEM program, preparing LCS students to pursue God ordained callings in the science, technology, engineering, and applied mathematics.
Qualifications
- Be a born-again believer, maintaining a testimony that is above reproach
- Active in local, evangelical church
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the discipline or a related field
- Valid ACSI and Florida teaching certificate or willingness to work toward certification
- Have a minimum of 7 years classroom experience in grades 6-12 with exemplary observationsand/or performance reviews
- Demonstrate an understanding of and appreciation for discipleship and the developmental needs ofstudents
- Demonstrate the ability to teach utilizing multiple modalities
- Demonstrate a positive, collaborative attitude

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A. Teaching:
- Provide an engaging, active learning environment designed to cultivate scientific curiosity.
- Develop and maintain content mastery of the courses assigned while understanding the LCSteacher is a champion of learning and a partner with students in that learning.
- Develop and continuously revise a meaningful Biblical framework for course content,instructional methods, and classroom management practices.
- Develop and/or maintain the curriculum map for assigned courses aligned to selectedstandards and the LCS Graduate Profile.
- Perform all professional responsibilities as detailed in the Faculty Handbook and prescribedby the Director of Academics and building level leadership.
- Actively participate in faculty professional development and spiritual cultivation.
- Reflect and foster the LCS Core Value of Christ-Centered Community.
- Teach a combination of courses in the physical, earth/space, and engineering sciences.
- Leadership and Administration:
- Foster a love of science among middle schoolers through experiential learning, science fair participation, and enrichment activities during Middle School Advisory.
- Assist the Director of Academics and RISE Director in the creation, development and adoption of courses that support LCS graduates’ pursuit of STEM opportunities both collegiately and professionally.
- If FTC Robotics is applicable:
- Develop hands-on activities and training for students during middle and high school robotics classes.
- Conduct outreach and recruitment to identify talented students with interest in robotics.
- Develop a communications strategy for students, parents and the LCS communityregarding FTC robotics.
- Contain and maintain parts inventory.
- Schedule and supervise team meetings, work sessions, and competitions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A. General:
- Google Suite proficiency.
- Competency in Understanding by Design curriculum design and the Next Generation ScienceStandards.
- Public speaking and presentation skills.
- Capacity to lead faculty development in the context of STEM.
B. If applicable, FTC Robotics:
- Proficiency or willingness to develop proficiency in Tetrix, Actobotics building materials, Makerbot 3D printing, CAD, and JAVA.
- Mechanical and craft capacity for utilizing diverse materials to create like wood, cardboard, styrofoam, metal, fabric, sensors, wires, filament, gasket, etc.
Physical Demands
- Required vision to read small print.
- Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend. Requires mobility of arms to reach anddexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
- Requires the ability to stand for long periods.
- Requires lifting, pushing and/or pulling which does not exceed 25 pounds and is an infrequentaspect of the job.

Staff Positions
General Description: Responsible for transporting students and teachers to and from school related events while maintaining a safe environment.
Qualifications:
- Be a born-again believer who demonstrates commitment to Christian education
- Be in agreement with the Lakeland Christian School Statement of Faith and staff qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- 1 + years’ experience driving a school bus (training provided for the right candidate)
- Current, valid state of Florida Class A or B commercial Driver’s License required with airbrake knowledge test; and P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements required.
- No Type A Violations in the past five years
- No more than three Type B Violations in the past three years
- No more than two at-fault accidents the past three years
- Must be reliable
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Uphold and ensure compliance of all LCS policies and procedures.
Transport students for school activities in accordance with the schools vehicle safety program in required time schedules.
Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students while on bus.
Obey all traffic laws.
Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required.
Observe and report safety hazards and bus maintenance or repair needs to the Facilities Manager.
In addition, other duties that may be required as directed by Facilities Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the Florida Motor Vehicle Code as applied to the operation of vehicles used in the transport of school children.
Knowledge of safe driving practices.
Ability to read and write at a level necessary to successfully perform the required duties
Ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions.
Ability to drive a school bus safely and efficiently.
Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving.
Must maintain valid certification

General Description: In the absence of a full time Food Service employee, the Food Service Substitute provides food service assistance and direct services to students.
Qualifications:

3. High School Diploma or equivalent
4. Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation procedures.
5. Be able to work in a team environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Uphold and ensure compliance of all LCS policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Will perform work assigned as needed that day, duties may include: serving meals to students, assisting in Ala Carte, washing dishes, overall clean up in dining area and any other duties required by Food Service Manager.

General Description:
The Crossing Guard provides safe crossings in the carline area of the school before and after school and models appropriate street skills and behavior for children.
Qualifications:
The Crossing Guard must:
- Have a high school diploma and or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Be a born-again believer with a demonstrated commitment to Christian education.
- Be in agreement with the Lakeland Christian School Statement of Faith and general staff qualifications.
- Have people skills, use tact and grace in dealing with people and have a servant’s heart.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Choosing good times to step into roadway to create gaps in traffic.
- Standing in the roadway with STOP paddle continuously raised to shoulder height to show that pedestrians are using the crosswalk. Stand for X amount of time.
- Verbally directing children, parents and visitors across the roadway.
- Recognizing and communicating potentially dangerous traffic situations and hazards in the environment.
- Provide escort and assistance to children as necessary.
- Fulfilling job requirements outdoors in all weather, including rain, fog, cold, heat, humidity and wind.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED. Some experience in working with children.
- Must possess a positive attitude and work well with others.
- Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential & sensitive student/family matters.

Substitute Positions
Substitute teachers play an important role at Lakeland Christian School. When a teacher is ill or away from his/her students due to a professional obligation elsewhere, it is imperative that the school make every effort to keep instruction moving forward in spite of the teacher’s absence. Substitute Teacher Applications are processed throughout the school year when there is a need to add to the current pool of available substitutes. A processing fee of $75 is required to cover the cost of background screening and drug testing, which are required for employment. 2. Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
3. Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students.
4. Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
5. Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
6. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
7. Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
8. Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
9. Completes other duties as assigned.
